The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Keith Andrew Granit can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence From: Sherone Rogers
Condolence: A year down the road, I believe Keith would want to know that he left some joy in our hearts, so this is a list of a few of things that make me smile (or laugh) when I think of him:

• The way (when I would be ranting about something/someone) Keith would shake his head and say, “Sherone, you are a mess!”;
• The way (when I would be telling a story that he thought was either absurd or really funny) Keith would turn his head, hold up his hand and say, “Oh, my God. Sherone, I can’t. I just can’t!”;
• The way that Keith was always so caring and considerate; he always asked how my then-fiancée was—even before he’d met her (I so wish he could have been at our wedding);
• The unmistakable gait Keith had; if he was walking four blocks away, you still knew it was him;
• The way Keith freely gave out compliments, like when I wore a hat so over-the-top that it got dubbed the “Kentucky Derby Hat,” and he told me, “Don’t listen to what anyone says—you are working that hat!”;
• The way Keith would burst into that roaring laugh we all know when I would call him “The Swedish Chef” after he would frantically chop up salad ingredients and end up with carrots and celery and onions all over the floor;
• The pride Keith took in decorating and in his apartment, and would excitedly describe or show me his new purchases and tell me exactly where they were going, and;
• The way Keith was always impeccably coordinated—right down to one of his Michael Kors bags. I also put my outfits together with an eye for detail, so it was nice to find a kindred spirit in Keith.

I could go on all day, but I’ll end by saying that, no matter what you thought of him, Keith always left an unforgettable impression. I thought so after the first time I met him years ago, I know it because I still think of him often, even though I’ve been without him for nearly a year. I will love and miss him forever.

Condolence: I am so very sorry to learn of Keith's passing today. Keith was a member of TASP (Transitional Aftercare Services Program)for many years. I was his counselor and he would often share stories of his family and the love that he had for them. Keith would always keep us laughing and I so enjoyed our weekend shopping trips. He was always on the hunt for something to decorate his home. Keith has so many friends through our program, Shore House, and Community Connections that will miss him! The world is just a little bit darker today without the light of Keith. But I do know that heaven is that much brighter!

Condolence: Dear Ingrid and Family -
As a board member of Shore House I want you to know how much Keith will be missed. He was always an enthusiastic participant and ready and willing to help out with the many activities at Shore House. His humor and gentle ways were much appreciated by the other members and all who came in contact with him. He leaves a big hole in the Shore House family and we will long remember him for all he gave. Thank you for sharing him with us. Take good care of yourselves at this most difficult time.

Our deepest sympathies,
Cathy Smith

Condolence: Dear Ingrid, I am a board member of Shore House and I was so saddened and upset to learn of Keith's death this morning. He was such a special person. He really came into his own as an important member of the club and he was a major advocate in going to presentations throughout the county to showcase our wonderful club. I always loved his company.And I admired him tremendously for overcoming his addictions. He was very proud of that and it must have been incredibly hard to do and sustain. Every summer I would host a day at the beach and he loved it. A special memory for me was last summer. Keith and I walked arm and arm down the beach on a beautiful day and we were so happy together. I also remember him that day in the pool, loving the sun, the wonderful water around him and the fun being with his other floating friends around him. Ingrid, I want you to know that he often told me how much he loved you. And now I know, through the obituary, that you have a large family. I come from a large family as well,and I hope all of you will find support and comfort in the love you had of him and have of each other. With deepest condolences, Mary Jane Kroon

Condolence: ODE TO KEITH

What’s in a friend?
A friend is one who makes you smile;
Who makes you laugh?
Who stays in your heart,
And defends on your behalf.

They don’t tickle your fancy
No, not one bit
They give you the Truth
Even when you don’t ask for it

They inspire you to do better
And be better
To continue on with all your might
If you fall, dust yourself off

Your special skills
Cannot go unnoticed
You’re a trailblazer, a gem,
a diamond in the rough, the flotus

How will we ever go on
Without your unique, quirky charm?
You came and went so quickly
And broke down all alarms

We shed our tears,
And said our goodbyes
Now all we have left are great memories,
Smiles, laughs, and good time highs.

Goodbye Keith Andrew Granit RIP and Thank You for being you!
