Obituary for Phyllis Margie Wheeler
Phyllis Margie Wheeler, 67 of Asbury Park, NJ, died on April 15, 2017 at the Monmouth Care Center in Long Branch, NJ. She was born in New York City in the Borough of Manhattan. After graduating from Neptune High School, she moved to East Orange, NJ. While living there she attended school for cosmetology & hairstyling in Newark, NJ. Phyllis was certified by the state of New Jersey’s as a beautician and a cosmetology & hairstyling teacher. She first taught at Concord Beauty School, now Empire Beauty School, in Bloomfield, NJ. She later moved back to Asbury Park and taught at the Ocean township branch of the Concord Beauty School before retiring. She became a born again Christian at an early age and later an evangelist and minister for Christ. She dedicated in ministering in the shore area and to seniors in her apartment building at the Phillips Seaview Tower in Asbury Park.
Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, Phillip and Clyde Mae Wheeler, 3 sisters; Nancy, Murlene and Ruby Wheeler. She leaves to cherish her many precious memories; 3 brothers, Ben Wright and his wife Sarah of Orlando, Florida, Phillip and Clinton Wheeler of Wall Township, New Jersey; 2 sisters, Pamela Walley and her husband Tyrone of Anniston, Alabama, Betty Wedner and her husband Ernest (Butch) of Long Branch, New Jersey, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 26 from 11 am until the time of the service at 12 noon at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave, Long Branch. Interment will follow at White Ridge Cemetery, Eatontown. The family will accept donations or memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family invites you to leave a letter of condolence, light a memorial candle or make a memorial donation by selecting the appropriate tab.
