Obituary for Gene VanBrunt

Gene VanBrunt
Gene Van Brunt, age 70 of West Long Branch, died Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. Gene was born and raised in Long Branch and had lived in West Long Branch for 32 years. He was the owner and operator of Flowers by Van Brunt in Long Branch since 1978 and the President of the West Long Branch Community Center, the Glenwood Cemetery Association and the Peter Cooper Village Association.

He was predeceased by his parents Donald and Mildred Van Brunt. Surviving are his partner, Frank Noble; two sisters and brothers in law, Gail and Michael Smith, Cindy and Greg May and his nephew Daniel.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 23 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., (corner of Third Ave.) in Long Branch. On Wednesday family and friends are asked to go directly to Star of the Sea Church, 101 Chelsea Ave. in Long Branch for a 9:30 am Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Monmouth County S.P.C.A., P.O. Box 93, Eatontown, NJ 07724. The family invites you to leave a letter of condolence, light a memorial candle or make a memorial donation by selecting the appropriate tab.
