Obituary for Ambrosina "Ambra" Rossi

Ambrosina was born in Ventimiglia, Italy and as a young child lived on both the French and Italian Rivieras before moving to Genoa as young woman in order to attend the Instituto Magistrale San Tommaso D’Aquino. While in Genoa, she met and married her husband, Orfeo, and moved to the United States in 1952.

Ambrosina and her family lived in NYC for ten years before moving to NJ in 1962 eventually settling in Highlands where she and Orfeo raised their two daughters. In 1994 Ambrosina and Orfeo moved to their home in Long Branch.

Ambrosina enjoyed her participation in many clubs and organizations. She very much enjoyed the Long Branch Senior Center and was a past President and Woman of the Year of the Long Branch Elks 742 Auxiliary. Ambrosina was also a past Membership Secretary for the Monmouth County Senior Citizen Council and a past President of the Red Bank Seniors Women’s Club, a club that she particularly loved and felt a great connection to and affection for all of its members. She also belonged to the Shore Senior Legends Showcase performing group which she enjoyed with her husband, Orfeo, who was known for his impersonation of Elvis Presley. As a communicant of St. Michael’s Catholic Church of West End she belonged to the Older and Wiser Club.

She is survived by her two daughters, Loretta Prino and her husband, Ron, of Wall Township, NJ and Janet LaMar and her husband, Joe, of Rexford, NY. The loves of her life were her four grandchildren, Ryan, Candace and Brandon LaMar and Erica Prino.

Visitation will be held at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave. in Long Branch on Monday, August 7, 2017 from 9:30 am – 10:30 am followed by an 11:00 am Mass at St. Michael’s Church in West End.
