Patsy Kraft Tilton, 89, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Wuesthoff Hospice House on August 3rd, 2017. Patsy was born on May 29, 1928 in Findlay, Ohio and moved to New Jersey as a young child where she spent the majority of her life. She lived in Long Branch, N.J. until moving to Oceanport, N.J. to raise her family in 1960. In 2004 she permanently relocated to Florida where she lived for the remainder of her life.
She was a graduate of Long Branch High School, class of 1946, and attended Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, N.J. She served as Chairperson to the Junior Auxiliary of Long Branch Public Health for 25 years, from 1968 until 1992. She was actively involved in Cub Scout Troop 58 as a Den Mother and a Girl Scout troop leader for many years in Oceanport. She was also a member of the Oceanport P.T.A. and the West Long Branch Ski Club. She and her family enjoyed being members of White Sands Beach Club for many years and created many great memories for her 2 children, Craig and Bonnie. She was a member of the Sun Eagles Ladies Golf Association, Fort Monmouth, N.J., the Turtle Creek Golf Association, Rockledge, Florida, the Neighbors of Suntree, the Rambling Red Hats of Melbourne and she served as President of the Sunshine Club of Melbourne. She also volunteered at the King Center for Performing Arts in Melbourne.
Patsy worked in a doctor’s office in Long Branch while in high school and became a secretary at Fort Monmouth until she became a stay at home mother. Patsy had a passion for travel and in her later years became a certified travel agent and enjoyed planning travel for her family and others.
Patsy also enjoyed dancing and bingo while in Florida. She played cards with her friends and enjoyed going on cruises many times each year as well as boating with her family. She lived life to the fullest every day and would want to be remembered in that way.
She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years Richard S. (Buggs) Tilton; her mother, Leslie Eva McKinley Kraft and her father, Abraham Kraft. She is survived by her children Craig Richard Tilton of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Bonnie Tilton Edelman of Stafford, Virginia. She is also survived by her 4 granddaughters; Taryn Paige, Austin Nicole, Kendall McKinley and Evan Michelle Clay, of Virginia as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will be held from 9 am until the time of the service at 11 am on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave. in Long Branch. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Pineda Presbyterian Church, 5650 N.
