Obituary for Sandra L. Tupper

Sandra L. Tupper, age 69 of Little Silver, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. She was born and raised in Little Silver and graduated from Red Bank Regional High School. Sandy was a fixture of the Little Silver train station for the greater part of three decades while operating the coffee, newspaper, and candy stands for daily commuters and neighborhood children. She became a well known name at Penn Station, New York from her patrons’ use of the $2 bills that she regularly disbursed as change to Little Silver riders.

An avid animal lover, Sandy was a supporter of the Monmouth County Kennel Club, the National Audubon Society, and the World Wildlife Fund. In addition to maintaining her family home in Little Silver, Sandy lived under the care of the Gateway Care Facility in Eatontown. While there she often raised money for various activities and events by way of BINGO nights and her on-site beverage cache. Never diffident her indisputable probity often led to her as being a leading voice as a patient advocate.

Sandy was an only child and is predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Helen Tupper, but will nevertheless be greatly missed by her friends at Gateway Care Facility, Buckman, Buckman & Reid and the various charities and groups she so often donated and kept in her heart.

In lieu of flower friends ask that any pecuniary donations be made to the Monmouth County SPCA in her honor.

A graveside service will be on Tuesday, September 26 at 12:00 noon at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 125 Central Ave., East Orange. Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch, is in charge of the arrangements. The family invites you to write a letter of condolence, share a story or make a donation by selecting the appropriate tab.
