Obituary for James J. Carasia

James J. Carasia
James J. Carasia, 78 of Deal, died peacefully on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. Born in Long Branch, he was a life resident of Deal. Jim was the Superintendent of Public Works for the Borough of Deal for 42 years before retiring in 1999. He was a member, Ex-Chief and Ex-President of the Deal Fire Department and Ex- Captain and Ex-President of the Deal First Aid Squad. Jim was a parishioner of St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church in Deal.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Margaret Carasia and his sister, Irene Carasia. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Sandra Smith Carasia; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Laura Carasia; Robert and Debby Carasia; Stephen and Jennifer Carasia; his daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Bob Simons; 8 grandchildren, Katie, Kristin, Juliann, Michael, Annalisa, Nick, Morgan, and Christopher and 3 great grandchildren, Zoey, Toby Jr., and Chloe.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 10 from 4-8 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave. in Long Branch. Funeral, Wednesday, 9 am at the funeral home followed by a 10:30 am Mass at St. Mary of the Assumption in Deal. Interment will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in West Long Branch. The family invites you to write a letter of condolence or share a story by selecting the appropriate tabs.
