Obituary for Evelina Morrison

Evelina  Morrison
Evelina P. Morrison, of Long Branch, died Saturday, February 10, 2018 at home, two days before her 88th birthday. Born in Jersey City, she had resided in Long Branch for the past 13 years. Evie was a teacher of gifted and talented students in Jersey City, retiring from J. W. Wakeman, P. S., No. 6. She was very proud of being named the Teacher of Year; she loved teaching and her students. A devoted grandmother Evie adored her grandchildren. Evie enjoyed being a member of the Long Branch Seniors and the Button Club and a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church. She rediscovered watercolor painting when she retired and it brought her great joy.

Evie was predeceased by her parents, John and Angelina Peduto. Surviving are her daughters Maria Morrison Heningburg, Sheila Morrison Chin and her grandchildren: Chiara, Dylan, Jules, Adrian, Matt, Chris, Alex, John and Stephen.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 19 from 3 - 7 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue in Long Branch. Funeral, Tuesday; 10 am from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Michael’s Church in West End, Long Branch. Interment will be at Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association of NJ, P.O. Box 417005, Boston MA 02241-7005. The family invites you to write a letter of condolence, share a story or make a donation by selecting the appropriate tab.
